Contemporary Craftsfirms Show Preview

In 1988, the first year of the Arts & Crafts Conference, the show featured two contemporary craftsfirms producing items in the Arts & Crafts style and following the Arts & Crafts philosophy. Since that time the Contemporary Craftsfirms Show has grown to include approximately 50 of the country's finest artists, artisans and craftsfirms selling both interpretations and accurate replicas of Arts & Crafts antiques. These works range from furniture, art pottery and metalware to rugs, textiles, jewelry, frames, tiles, clocks, lighting and art.

Our rendition of the popular design from the period is worked in hand stencil and hand embroidery. In addition, we will be displaying ideas for window treatments - sheer curtains, such as these Hand-hemstitched Curtains of Raw Linen Scrim and linen curtains with designs in hand stencil and hand embroidery. The Champlain Bed
This queen size bed is our newest, critically acclaimed bed design. It has an interlocking motif in the both the headboard and footboard and is made of quarter sawn white oak with a walnut brown finish. Our new expanding dining table is an elegant balance of form following function. This expanding dining table is made of quarter sawn white oak with a chestnut brown finish. Composed of the Catlin Bow Arm Sofa and Catlin Bow Arm Morris Chair. The beautiful feather slat motif detailing of the back and side panels make the sofa and chair a strong architectural statement when freestanding in your living room. Limbert Cottage Bookcase

This measured drawing replica bookcase is the smaller version of Charles Limbert's 350 which is featured in his 1905 catalog. An original 355 was shown this past February at the 24th National Arts & Crafts Conference at the Grove Park Inn. The case features an 8-lite mitered mullion door which was available for only a limited time in small quantity by both Limbert and Gustav Stickley as the cost proved to be prohibitive. The open (winged) bookshelves were a Limbert trademark and were very stylized for the time. Ideally suited for a study or parlor, it features 3 adjustable shelves and cast period brass hardware. This bookcase, which measures 33" wide x 13" deep x 48" high, can be found in Chuck Conner's Mission Woodwright booth.
